Below we've listed some of the top resources nationwide and others that are in and around the city of Los Angeles. There are many resources available that can help with different needs.

Crisis Text Line

Whether you need to vent, problem-solve, or need help during a difficult moment, this text line is made of real people who volunteer to provide short-term support.

988 Lifeline

Click on the link to choose to call, text, or chat. There is also specific support for individuals who are Deaf/HoH. 


988 is similar to Crisis Text Line in real people providing short-term, in-the-moment support for a variety of circumstances. 


For those who speak other languages, call 988 and you will be provided translation in more than 240 languages through voice call only.

Disaster Distress Helpline (SAMHSA)

For Deaf and Hard of Hearing ASL Callers: Please text or call the Disaster Distress Helpline at 1-800-985-5990 using your preferred Relay provider. 


The helpline is open to anyone experiencing emotional distress related to natural or human-caused disasters. This includes survivors of disasters; loved ones of victims; first responders; rescue, recovery, and relief workers; clergy; and parents and caregivers.

Trevor Project Suicide/Self-Harm Lifeline

The Trevor Project is devoted to supporting LGBTQ+ youth reduce harm and express themselves in a judgement-free space.

This is not a crisis hotline and intake appointments can take up to 10 days to be scheduled. Talk with a call agent who can conduct a brief screening and referral 24/7. Certain criteria can qualify for no-cost treatment.

National Parent & Youth Helpline

For anyone struggling as a parent, caregiver, child, or youth; this helpline is accessible resource for those experiencing a personal challenge or need support.

This is LA County's Help Line for Mental Health and Substance Use Services 

Note: This service provides referrals for low cost mental health resources. 


For those who are hard of hearing-Call 711 to request for an interpreter to connect with 24/7 Help Line.

University Counseling Services

University counseling center (UCS) is open to all enrolled students at CSUN who are in need of mental health support.

Anxiety and Mood Disorder Clinic

This is not a crisis line. SCCC is a non-profit counseling center that help clients ranging from couples, groups, individuals and families with mental health care for various needs in life.

NAMI Los Angeles is an organization that provides advocacy, support, and education surrounding mental illness and how it can affect our lives.

Horizon Community Mental Health Center

Horizon CMHC takes a patient-centered approach in providing accessible mental health care to adults. These services include therapy, medication management, and personalized treatment plans.
